>>Adverbs > Irregular Adverbs

A few adjectives correspond to adverbs that do not match the expected forms given in the section on forming regular adverbs.

The most evident are the adverbs bem well, corresponding to the irregular adjective bom good, and mal badly, corresponding to mau bad.

The adjective muito means much, many, or a lot, but its adverb is also muito and means very (when describing an adjective) or very much (when describing a verb). The adjective pouco little, few has the adverb pouco, meaning a little. Remember that the adverbs muito and pouco are invariable, even though their adjective counterparts have four forms. Muito pouco translates to very little.

Some adverbs, such as assim in that way, like that, so do not correspond to an adjective, and can also be considered irregular.
